We recommend staying in Dénia, our base for the wedding weekend. It’s about a 25 minutes drive from our venue Casa Benigalip and we’ll take care of getting you to and from the wedding venue on Friday. We will have optional additional wedding events the Thursday before and Saturday after the wedding so factor that into your planning if you’d like to attend!
Fly
Both Valencia (VLC) and Alicante (ALC) airports are roughly equidistant from Dénia so you can fly into either. We typically prefer to fly in and out of Valencia! There’s no airport in Dénia so it’s about an hour drive from either of these airports.
Getting to Dénia from the airport
- If possible, we recommend flying into Valencia or Alicante and renting a car (make sure it’s automatic unless you know how to drive stick!) so you can explore the area outside of our wedding festivities. For car rentals we highly recommend SIXT.
- Other options: cab or private transport services (reach out to your hotel to help arrange)
Travel tips & tricks
- We recommend tracking flight prices through Google Flights or Skyscanner. Book sooner rather than later as you'll get a much better deal booking early.
- You will likely have to connect to get to VLC or ALC. If you are connecting through a notoriously busy/slow airport such as London Heathrow or Paris Charles de Gaulle, we recommend budgeting at least 3 hours for a layover to account for any delays (trust us!).
- Once you get to Europe, there are more options (many of them budget friendly) to get around. If you're planning on tacking on a trip to another part of Spain or another country before or after the wedding, consider looking at prices in and out of those major airports or train stations which may be more cost effective.
- Double check your passport expiration date ahead of time to avoid any last minute surprises! 6 months validity recommended, at least 3 months validity beyond your planned date of departure per Spanish guidelines.
Coming from elsewhere in Spain or Europe?
For US friends, the Monday preceding our wedding is Memorial Day which presents the opportunity to make your trip into a full vacation. You have even more transport options if you plan on extending your trip!- From Madrid: The train from Madrid to Valencia is very comfortable, high speed and around 2 hours. You can also opt to fly and it’ll take just an hour.
- From Barcelona: The high-speed train takes just under 3 hours to Valencia or you can hop on a 2 and a half hour flight.
- From the Balearic Islands:
- Ibiza: You can actually take a comfortable 4-hour ferry straight from Ibiza to Dénia. Or the flight to Valencia is under an hour.
- Mallorca: The flight is about an hour to Valencia.
Stay
May is the beginning of the busy season, so we recommend booking your lodging as soon as you can! There are accommodation options along the main port which is ideal if you want to be close to the restaurants and all the action or there are options in more quiet pockets of Dénia. We will provide transportation to and from the wedding so you don’t have to worry about a thing day of!Rentals
Dénia is a holiday town so there are a lot of options when it comes to Airbnb, VRBO or Booking.com if you prefer to have a bit more space or want to stay as a group! We recommend this area near the port If you have any questions or want to run your location by us, feel free to text us and we'll help guide you!
